Fellow scribe and Whistler author Stephen Vogler most accurately summed up Nicole Fitzgerald in two words: creative hurricane. Her whirlwind of activity, talents and imagination touch down in a variety of mediums including print, television and film.

She currently hosts and produces for the weekly lifestyle show, The Express on Shaw TV where she shares her hikers-and-high-heels way of life in Whistler.

The award-winning print journalist was also the Whistler correspondent for an Olympic-themed show called Powered to Win aired nationally on Shaw TV. She provided daily news stories and updates for Shaw's coverage of the 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Games as well.

Nicole’s background as an editor, reporter and columnist for weekly newspapers shines in her news articles. Her work has also been published in The Vancouver Sun. Lifestyle and human-interest stories are her greatest strength. Magazines such as Mountain Life, CityFood, Whistler, Up!, Whistler Blackcomb and Western Living have all carried Nicole’s byline during her eight years of living Whistler.

The Vancouver Island native has produced, directed and written for film. Three of her documentaries screened during the 2010 Olympic Festival in Whistler, including the feature-length film, Whistler: A People’s History funded by the Vancouver Organizing Committee of the 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Games, the Resort Municipality of Whistler and the B.C. Arts Council.

Nicole’s film credits also include four short films. Two premiered at the 2009 Whistler Film Festival followed by screenings on Air Canada flights during the Games.

The University of Victoria graduate is putting her English degree to work. She penned the editorial for the cookbook, Savour Whistler (Cultivate Books Publishing, 2010). She is currently working on a new work, Table For One: A Single’s Guide to the Kitchen.
